What actually matters here
Two frames can share one mould and still be different products — the lens film and hinge screws are where the cost was cut. If a frame arrives smelling of solvent with a lens film that peels at the edge, that was decided before shipping, and a hinge close-up would have shown it. Ask for exactly that photo.
Do not pay a single extra dollar for UV-protection claims. Tint is real, certified UV filtering is unverifiable in this channel. Buy these for the look; buy optics from an optician. Anyone charging a premium for 'UV400' in this market is charging for a sticker.
QC checklist — what to ask for before it ships
- Hinge joint and screws at close range
- Lens film edge — peeling starts at the rim and is visible in warehouse photos
- Frame flex photo: gentle temple spread without stress marks
- Nose pad seating — crooked pads mean a rushed assembly line
